The Bulk of it is Downright Chilly [Day 2]

We woke up to find it pleasantly cold. We drove down to the edge of the huge reservoir that we saw on the way up, just past Cody. We went right down to the shore, and I skipped some stones. I threw one hard backhanded. It hurt. A lot.

This all eventually degenerated to finding the largest rocks I could and launching them, either by granny style or discus throwing style into the water to make the biggest splash possible. With all the wind, I often felt the nice cold spray of the water.

There was a large amount of nicely shaped driftwood, so my dad and I set about building a pyre. We were going to burn it too, well, I was, but we were match/lighterless. Reminded me of that one Murakami story.

We walked up the road a ways, encountered some livestock, and felt hungry, so we left for lunch.

We got back, and started a Jigsaw puzzle. This went on for hours and hours. It was nighttime by the time we were done. The temperature outside was a wonderful 56 degrees.

Wyoming Trip Dos [Day 1]

After taking another drive up to Cody, I was starting to become familiar with the trail. As a matter of fact, we stopped at the same rest stop on this drive as we did on the one just a week ago on the trip to the Crow Reservation. Just north of the Wyoming/Colorado border. You should stop in, it’s nice. Fossilized dinosaur bone. Still another semi-lengthy drive, except this time I got to myself, and did a majority of it too.

The house is actually a ways out of Cody. Some friends of ours wanted us to come stay here while it was empty, and my family isn’t one to turn down free things.

We spent the evening simply, playing cards, taking a walk, and going to bed.

Second Wyoming Trip

The following posts are a summary of the next trip I took up to the northerly states after returning from the service trip.

After Yellowstone [Day 6-7: Into Sunday and the Return]

After the restaurant in the Tetons, we took off in the night, and ended up in a little hotel in a little town. It was called Trail’s End. Fancy place, let me tell you.

’nuff said

We woke up and ate in a small breakfast joint. Very small town place, but I liked seeing our gothed out waitress.

We got back to the church later in the evening, and so concluded the trip. Good times.

Yellowstone Last [Day 6: End of Yellowstone Leg]

After the canyon, we went to see Old Faithful like the good little tourists we were.

after

Afterwards, we walked around a bit of the pathway surrounding Old Faithful, then drove out the south entrance towards the Tetons.

hey, an asian one!

I don’t have any digital pictures from our stop in the Tetons. A good picture was taken of me looking really angry with a lovely flower in my ear… It was already getting dark, we skipped stones on a lake, then went in to the lake side restaurant. I ordered a calzone, but since they burned it and made me wait longer, I got free ice cream. Strawberry Sorbet more like, but it was tasty.
