Verdant Green and Gasoline

Lesson 1: On Human Nature and Destruction

I smell like I've just been swimming through a sea of oil and plant sludge. The weedwhacker is a gruesome device of plant extermination.

The only reason I bring this up is because when I was using one of these ealier today, it made me think of wielding something akin to a giant wielding some kind of massive killing device. Instead of chopping off the heads of people, I'm chopping off the heads of plants. Bits of green are flying everywhere, a wet, sometimes sticky situation. You must squint lest the pieces (of plant or of flesh and bone) find their way into your eyes.

This is one of the few things that is left in this day and age of the barbaric nature of man. The power behind one of the many machines built only to destroy... They have made something "better," but there's something significantly different about holding the instrument in one's own arms.
